Trabing Taxidermy,LLC
What do I need to do to ensure my cape will not slip or lose its hair?
How much cape do I need to leave to ensure a proper shoulder mount?
What do I need to bring with me to the taxidermist other than my animal?
~In order to ensure enough cape for your shoulder mount , turn the animal on its back and make a shallow cut through the skin just below the breastbone. Cut well away from the brisket of your animal. Insert two fingers of the free hand, cradling the blade, to hold the skin up and away from the entrails. Keep in mind that the more cape you leave the better off you are.
~To avoid slipping or hair loss, we recommend bringing your trophy in right away. If you cannot get your animal to the taxidermist immediatley and the animal is to large to freeze in whole, follow skinning guide and place cape in freezer as soon as possible
~Always bring appropriate tags and licenses with your trophies when your bring them to Trabing Taxidermy. We require at least 30% down of the total cost of your mount in order to start the taxidermy process.
